When doctors make mistakes

Article Abstract:

Medical errors cause as many as 98,000 deaths a year in the US according to a study carried out by the Institute of Medicine in Washington, D.C. but seldom are any explanations offered by the doctors responsible for fear their words will be used against them in lawsuits. Ironically it is this very silence that is often seen as lack of compassion that triggers the lawsuits they so seek to avoid.
