When nature's not enough

Article Abstract:

Obstetricians may use either forceps or a vacuum extractor to get a baby out of the birth canal when the mother cannot push enough or when the baby is in fetal distress. Both instruments are safe and rarely have side effects. Pregnant women should discuss these instruments with their doctors before delivery.
