All-female public schools are gaining popularity in Canada. A study has shown that adolescent girls' self-esteem dropped 7% to 17% below that of boys' between elementary and high school. All-female public schools encourage girls to participate without fear of being laughed at.

Automobile driving reflects the disparity between men and women. A car may expose the differences in gender roles related to power. Men express their fear of vulnerability in cars by a desire to be in the driver's seat.
