Why do I stay?

Article Abstract:

A wife narrates how she almost gave up on her marriage because of her younger husband's unexplainable ill behavior. She later, however, discovered that her husband's behavior is caused by a neurological birth defect called fetal alcohol syndrome. This finding has helped her understand her husband better.

A woman pours out her heart and recounts the ordeal she went through living with a husband who had been diagnosed as schizophrenic. She expresses guilt for not giving her son a normal life, but most of all, for not leaving him when the violence started.
