Immunizations prevent illnesses from setting in an infant's immune system that is not yet fully developed. Immunizations against hepatitis B, DPT, poliomelytis, influenza, MMR, and varicella are given starting from birth to 18 months, with booster doses given during the pre-school age.

Formula's in the bottle gets half of its calories from fat and has a comparable mix of protein and sugar. Some experts hope docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) or arachidonic acid (ARA) added formulas could make up the difference with breast milk.
