Women and alcohol: what you need to know about problem drinking

Article Abstract:

Alcoholism produces more harmful effects in women than in men. Alcohol makes women more intoxicated because of their slow alcohol metabolism and may induce pregnancy and birth disorders. It also destroys a woman's health and well-being. Alcoholic tendencies may be hereditary or result from family history. Job stress may also be a contributing factor. A key to preventing or treating this problem would be to reduce stress situations and help women to focus on managing their lives effectively. A support system will greatly help in addressing this predicament.
