Women-friendly workplace campaign aims high: NOW gathers support from Fortune 500 companies and take on new offenders
Article Abstract:
NOW is taking a more pro-active stance in its campaign against sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. NOW's Women-Friendly Workplace and Campus Campaign began 1999 with an invitation to Fortune 500 companies to sign a pledge that they will guarantee fair and equal labor practices at all levels. So far, 13 companies have signed their pledges. As if to say it is serious, NOW has filed a suit against Detroit Edison, Michigan's biggest electric utility, for sexual harassment and sex and racial discrimination.
