Women's health at risk in abortion debate

Article Abstract:

The legal debate concerning abortion focuses on the provision of certain exceptions to the complete ban on abortion. Rightist hardliners, such as Sen Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, refuse to accept even a single exception to the law even if the mother's life is at risk. Pres Bill Clinton, however, has adamantly rejected legislation without the clause listing exceptional cases. The pro-life stance demands parental sacrifice for the unborn child at all costs. However, extending such demands on mothers for their living children have not been discussed.
