Women's movement losses great agitator Bellan Abzug: 1920-1998
Article Abstract:
The death of feminist pioneer Bellan Abzug in 1998 was a big loss to the National Organization for Women and the whole women's rights movement. Abzug helped many women into politics through a group she co-founded, the National Women's Political Caucuses. As a member of Congress, she was responsible for enacting several civil rights laws. She also co-founded the Women's Environment and Development Organization and was inducted to the National Women's Hall of Fame in Sep 1994.
