Catharine R. Stimpson: charting the course of women's studies since its inception

The contributions of Catharine R. Simpson to the feminist movement is discussed. Family atmosphere, books on women achievers and college life are the factors that influenced her feminist insights. Aside from her directorship in MacArthur Foundation's Fellows Division, Simpson conducts lectures on women's studies. She co-founded the 'Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society,' a periodical linking work on women in various fields.

Steps toward transformation: a conversation with Gloria Steinem
Article Abstract:
Feminist Gloria Steinem believes that the concept of marriage must be changed to allow men equal burden in taking care of children. While raising girls with male characteristics is commendable, there is a need for boys to be infused with feminine virtues. Steinem's major contributions to the feminist movement include the founding of women's groups, her organizational and leadership skills and her writings.
