Working together for our children
Article Abstract:
Employers are increasingly becoming sensitive to the plight of working parents and their children. They have become aware that by addressing issues concerning employees' child care needs, they stand to have a more stable and dependable workforce. Thus, companies such as Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Kentucky, and Johnson & Johnson in New Jersey have set up on-site child care centers. On the other hand, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and Xerox Corp. set aside subsidies meant for employees' child care expenditures.

Article Abstract:
An increasing number of employees are opting for part-time employment to augment their income and provide better for their families' needs. More part-time jobs are available at the technical, professional, and executive levels in the 1990s in contrast to common vacancies for blue collar work some 15 years ago. Part-time workers are allowed to enjoy family life better and have more flexible working hours compared to full-time employees. At the same time, employers can save costs in paying lower salaries.
