Yoga has been around for over 2,000 years, but it is currently gaining new popularity in America. There are several different types of yoga. Astanga is popular with those who want a vigorous workout and want to be strong, Kripalu focuses on connection the body and mind to release mental tension, and Sivananda offers stretching and relaxation that appeals to older people. One move from each type of yoga is described.

Yoga power

A new form of yoga called 'power yoga' or ashtanga, which is Sanskrit for 'eight-limbed path to enlightenment,' is gaining popularity in North America. Unlike traditionally soft yoga practices, power yoga involves very vigorous physical movements to build strength, release tension and liberate the spirit.
