A DEAD-box RNA helicase in the Escherichia coli RNA degradosome
Article Abstract:
Enolase and RhlB, a member of the DEAD-box family of ATP-dependent RNA helicases, are novel components of RNA degradosome. RhlB most likely unwinds distinct RNA structures in the presence of ATP to facilitate mRNA degradation by PNPase as shown by the RNAs failure to degrade when RhlB is blocked by an affinity-purified antibody even if ATP is added. Enolase's purpose in degradosome is still unknown.

A cap-binding protein complex mediating U snRNA export
Article Abstract:
A component of nuclear complex CBC, cap binding protein 20 (CBP20) has a role in the regulation of U snRNA transport from the cell nucleus. Antibodies against recombinant CBP20 were shown to suppress pre-mRNA splicing and U snRNA export to the cytoplasm. Another RNA-binding protein, the HIV Rev protein, may function in RNA export in a manner similar to that of CBC.
