A dark cluster of galaxies at redshift z=1
Article Abstract:
Scientists have identified a far-off source of X-rays from the lensed quasi-stellar object labelled MG2016 + 112 (refs 1,2). The emission is like that of galaxy clusters elsewhere in the space region because they contain thermal bremsstrahlung radiation from a hot metal-rich, diffuse gaseous halo. The X-ray galaxy cluster may contain astronomical objects which have never been seen before, indicating that the theoretical description of metal enrichment process in galaxy clusters needs to be reviewed.

Discovery of a hierarchical distribution of dark matter in the Fornax cluster of galaxies
Article Abstract:
X-ray observations were conducted on gas found in the Fornax cluster of galaxies. The X-ray satellite Advanced Satellite for Cosmology and Astrophysics provided high-quality data. Dark matter was found to be distributed on at least two distinct length scales, one of the dominant central galaxy and the other of the cluster as a whole. The results indicate the existence of a hierarchy in dark matter distribution.

A population of faint galaxies that contribute to the cosmic X-ray background
Article Abstract:
A survey was undertaken that was a 100 times more sensitive than previous studies n the 2-10 keV band. Many faint resolved sources were found with integrate flux accounting for 30% of the X-ray background int he range. The average spectrum of the resolved source is harder than nearby bright active galactic nuclei and near to the spectrum of the X-ray background radiation.
