A firm foundation?

Article Abstract:

The European Science Foundation (ESF), which was established in 1974, is struggling to establish a clear identity even after more than thirty years and its new mission statement is an attempt to identify its place in the evolving system. The ESF members have failed to deliver the money that is required to do the job despite their recognition that basic scientific research needs to be supported at the European level.

Too hesitant steps forward in European collaboration: Researchers seeking to build projects that make the best of Europe's potential have no obvious place to turn

Article Abstract:

Many believe that there should be an organization to coordinate and fund pan-European collaborative research projects. The European Science Foundation (ESF) already coordinates research networks supported financially by the national funding agencies in Europe. It is currently under relatively new leadership, and its relationship with the European research councils and research communities is being reviewed.

Science without borders

Article Abstract:

The various obstacles are required to be overcome in order to develop the European science. The European Commission has to gain the support of academic, as well as industrial scientists to understand and resolve all the issues, which are coming in the way of the development.
