Evolutionary geneticists are tackling problems as diverse as tracing the origins of infectious diseases to explain rampant obesity and conserving endangered species. The geneticists are exploring two research areas how genes underline evolutionary processes and how genes and genomes themselves evolve.

Toxic responses caused by the effects on organisms of exposure to chemicals, biological agents and radiation were studied. Research is being carried out on toxicology since it varies from place to place emphasizing on human health and measures to prevent the consequences of toxicities.

The challenges faced by practitioners of molecular genetics are discussed. The distinction between geneticist and genomicist is unclear as the two titles represent a continuum that differs more in scope than skills.
