A la recherche du temps perdu

Article Abstract:

Analysis of past climatic changes in Oceania can contribute towards global knowledge because of the minimal human impact on the environment and uniqueness of some of the records. Temperature and precipitation data of the last 150 years show warming in the islands situated north of the South Pacific Convergence Zone since 1970. The warming is probably due to El Nino currents. Precipitation has been closely related to the El Nino currents since 1970. Coral growth rates have helped in reconstructing sea surface temperatures.

Quantification of modelling uncertainties in a large ensemble of climate change simulations

Article Abstract:

A systematic attempt to determine the range of climate changes consistent with the modelling uncertainties based on a 53-member ensemble of model versions constructed by varying model parameters is presented. The ensemble produces a range of regional changes much wider than indicated by traditional methods based on scaling the response patterns of an individual simulation.

Detecting milk proteins in ancient pots

Article Abstract:

Research has revealed the presence of milk proteins in nine ancient ceramic cooking vessels from the Scottish Atlantic coastal region. The results show that, despite the harsh environment in the region, farming by its Early Iron Age inhabitants was well developed.
