A panda named Dolly?

Article Abstract:

The author discusses the claim by Chinese research scientists that cloning could save the endangered giant panda. Concerns by conservation biologists that cloning activity could divert funds from panda conservation and habitat protection are discussed.

The Year of the Panda

Article Abstract:

The record high number of births of panda cubs in captivity during 1999 is discussed. The failing health of 28-year-old panda Hsing-Hsing at the National Zoo in Washington, DC is also discussed.
