Empty waves: have spotter planes and satellites made fisherman too good at practicing their art?
Article Abstract:
Swordfish numbers have dwindled and other fish have also suffered tremendous declines in population. Bluefish tuna has plummeted by 75% since the 1960s. Large ocean fish stocks are imperiled by the number of modern boats, an excess of fishing without adequate enforcement and regulations, and the unintentional killing of juvenile fish and non-targeted species.
