Biodegradation of oil in uplifted basins prevented by deep-burial sterilization

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the sterilization of petroleum reservoirs which originated from hotter, deeper regions of the Earth to result in non-biodegradable oil. The colonization of oil by hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria is discussed.

The gating mechanism of the large mechanosensitive channel MscL

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the testing of structural models of cytoplasmic gates through the substitution of cysteines by predicted residues. The mechanism controlling the gates is discussed.
