Bridging the gap in the German economy

Article Abstract:

Gunter Stock, head of research at Berlin-based pharmaceutical firm Schering, is urging science to re-engage with industry to make the German economy better, as the Germany economy is suffering due to a breakdown in relations between science and industry. He is hence working to bring together expertise from different sources in ways that would be useful to society and government alike.

Political wrangling derails German university reforms

Article Abstract:

The federal government and Germany's 16 states at a meeting failed to agree how to implement a competition to identify and reward the countryEs best university leading to highly disturbing political signal. It was the stated that the top university research in Germany needs extra funding to compete on the global stage and get the competition moving.

The aftermath of independence

Article Abstract:

Aleksander Jovanovic, the endocrinologist at the University of Mitrovica talks about the various events happening in the formerly Serbian province of Kosovo after independence. He says that the university is the most important economic factor in the province and is involved in several significant scientific projects.
