CD36 is a sensor of diacylglycerides

Article Abstract:

N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea-induced nonsense mutation of Cd36 causes a recessive immunodeficiency phenotype in which macrophages are insensitive to the R-enantiomer of MALP-2 and to lipoteichoic acid. CD36 has an established role in the recognition of endogenous ligands and might therefore represent a signalling bridge between endogenous inducers and the principal innate immune sensors of the mammalian host.

Chaperone mutation in Tn syndrome

Article Abstract:

The production of the autoimmune Tn antigen by a glycosyltransferase enzyme rendered defective by a disable chaperone might have implications for other Tn-related disorders such as IgA nephropathy, a condition that can result in renal failure. The T-synthase activity in whole-blood cell extracts from Tn syndrome donors is significantly lower than that in control samples.

Phagosomes are competent organelles for antigen cross-presentation

Article Abstract:

Detailed demonstration about the phagosomes displaying the elements and properties needed to be self-sufficient for the cross-presentation of exogenous antigens are presented. The new function links phagocytosis mediated by the endoplasmic reticulum.
