Can simple rules account for the pattern of triadic interactions in juvenile and adult female sooty mangabeys?

Article Abstract:

The first data on triadic interactions involving juveniles in a rainforest primate, the sooty mangabey, Cercocebus torquatus atys, is presented. The results show that the triadic interactions of juvenile sooty mangabeys resemble triadic interactions reported for adult members of other species of Old World monkeys, but that most of the observed behavior patterns could be explained by a set of simple rules instead of invoking higher cognitive abilities.

Evidence for a spatial memory of fruiting states of rainforest trees in wild mangabeys

Article Abstract:

Two wild mangabey monkey groups are studied to understand their ranging behavior when approaching target trees with and without fruits. Memories of previous feeding experiences and fruiting states are used by these monkeys to distinguish fruit-bearing target trees from the non fruit-bearing ones.
