Changes in lifetime immunocompetence in male and female Gryllus texensis (formerly G. integer)*: trade-offs between immunity and reproduction
Article Abstract:
It has been possible to estimate immunocompetence in the cricket Gryllus texensis by evaluating haemocyte number, phenoloxidase activity and susceptibility to the bacterium Serratia marcescens. This research supported the hypothesis that males trade off immunity for reproduction.

Agonistic behaviour in male and female field crickets, Gryllus bimaculatus, and how behavioural context influences its expression
Article Abstract:
Pattern, frequency and intensity of agonistic behavior in the field cricket Gryllus bimaculatus is influenced by previous interactions with conspecifics. The production of aggressive song during and after fights between males is promoted by the contact with other adult males. But individually housed males and females produce their aggressive song only at the end of an agonistic encounter. This reflects the alternative fighting techniques. Males after losing a fight display no more agonistic behavior for 10 minutes only to recover within an hour.
