Climate warming and calling phenology of frogs near Ithaca, New York, 1990-1999
Article Abstract:
A study on amphibian breeding patterns and temperature change over the last century near Ithaca, New York in the northeastern United States is reported. These data suggest that climate has warmed in central New York State during this century and has resulted in earlier breeding in certain amphibians, which could be the first indication of biotic response to climatic change in eastern North America.

Additive partitioning of species diversity across multiple spatial scales: Implications for regional conservation of biodiversity
Article Abstract:
Additive partitioning has been applied to data on arboreal beetle diversity collected from a nested design consisting of four hierarchical levels-trees, forest stands, sites and ecoregions. The use of diversity partitioning is advocated because it complements existing models in conservation biology and provides a unique approach to understanding species diversity across spatial scales.

Wetland loss and biodiversity conservation
Article Abstract:
Research shows that wetland biota conservation calls for maintaining a minimum wetland density in human-dominated landscapes. Data indicate that one acre or more wetland area sustains a wetland biota at sufficient levels.
