Close-up on cell biology

Article Abstract:

A cutting-edge technology is required for redefining the workings of cellular structures and molecules in biology, biochemistry and nanotechnology. Nanopatterning and nanotopography are techniques practiced by only a handful of specialists, but the equipment and software are becoming available commercially.

Cell division

Article Abstract:

The mitotic spindle and contractile ring represent cellular 'machinery' developed through natural selection by cytoskeletal proteins. The article explores the way these machines work to control the processes of mitosis and cytokinesis in cells.

Retraction signals end of cell-biology debate

Article Abstract:

The cell-biology community has been rocked by retraction of a biology paper on the theory of cell signalling written by Siu-Kwong Chan, who is one of the paper's co-authors. It was retracted 15 months after it was published.
