Complete crystallographic analysis of the dynamics of CCA sequence addition

Article Abstract:

A complete sequential snapshot of six complex structures of CCA-adding enzyme and four distinct RNA substrates with and without CTP (cytosine triphosphate) or ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is presented. The structures have revealed the dynamic mechanism of nucleotide selection that accompanies CCA addition, which allows the comparison of the polymerization and termination dynamics of the template-dependent and template-free polynucleotide polymerases.

Crystal structure of the MgtE [Mg.sup.2+] transporter

Article Abstract:

The crystal structures of the full-length Thermus thermophilus MgtE and of the cytosolic domain are determined in the presence and absence of [Mg.sup.2+]. The results have indicated a homeostasis mechanism, in which [Mg.sup.2+] bound between cytosolic domains have regulated [Mg.sup.2+] flux by sensing the intracellular [Mg.sup.2+] concentration.

Snapshots of tRNA sulphuration via an adenylated intermediate

Article Abstract:

The crystal structures of the MnmA thiouridylase-tRNA complex in three discrete forms, which provide snapshots of the sequential chemical reactions during RNA sulphuration, are presented. The structures provide the basis for a general mechanism whereby an enzyme incorporates a reactive atom at a precise position in a biological molecule.
