Conservation applications of astronaut photographs of earth: Tidal-flat loss (Japan), elephant effects on vegetarian (Botswana), and seagrass and mangrove monitoring (Australia)

Article Abstract:

Applications to illustrate the type of information which can be obtained from astronaut photographs and how well that information can contribute to conservation projects is presented. The astronaut photographs can provide timely and important data for public information and can guide field surveys and habitat classification, which are crucial for conservation biology and applied ecology.

Pollination system stability in Tropical America

Article Abstract:

Human exploitation of wild lands and colonization by honeybees from Africa are the two large-scale terrestrial experiments occurring in the Neotropical Landscape. The functional and conceptual intricacies in the area of pollinator dynamics, pollination success, pollination ecology and the responses of each to habitat change are discussed.
