Diet book attacked for its high-protein advice

Article Abstract:

A diet book developed by researchers at Australia's largest government laboratory network has made a sale of millions of copies and earned millions of money in terms of royalties. The diet book advocates a much higher protein intake than that recommended by most national guidelines and it is criticized that the evidence does not support its high-protein message.

Joe Benshemesh, an ecologist at the Northern Territory Government's Biodiversity Conservation Division in Alice Springs is studying the elusive sand-dwelling marsupial mole of Australia known as "itjaritjari." A report on the search by biologists and aboriginal trackers to reveal the secrets of the itjaritjari is presented.
