Dying to heal: the use of animals in traditional medicine
Article Abstract:
The use of animal parts such as tiger bones, bear gallbladders and rhino horns in traditional medicines is a factor causing extinction of some endangered species and a way of displaying cruelty to animals. Hence, legislations have been introduced to regulate this practice.

CITES averts crises
Article Abstract:
The CITES conference in April 2000 in Nairobi accepted proposals to protect elephants, whales, turtles and Tibetan antelope. However, the conference rejected protection for various types of shark.
