Exploration of molecular dynamics during transient sorption of fluids in mesoporous materials

Article Abstract:

The relationship between molecular self-diffusion and global uptake dynamics is explored by using nuclear magnetic resonance methods and Vycor porous glass as a model mesoporous system. It is observed that for states outside the hysteresis region, the relaxation process is essentially diffusive in character, whereas the dynamics slow down within the hysteresis region and are dominated by activated rearrangement of the adsorbate density within the host material.

The dance of domains

Article Abstract:

An analysis by Al-Hashimi and his co-workers give an in-depth understanding of the structural dynamics of biological molecules by demonstrating that for an RNA molecule from HIV, the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique provides details about the molecular motion.
