Genotype-environment interactions in honeybee guarding behaviour

Article Abstract:

The genetic effects on guarding behavior of the honey bees and the interactions between individuals of different genotypes are discussed. The inheritance patterns for guarding persistence and genotype-social environment interactions in guarding behavior are the two studies that were conducted on Africanized honeybees (AHB) and European races of honeybees (EHB).

The influence of paternity on virgin queen success in hybrid colonies of European and African honeybees

Article Abstract:

The hybridization of African honeybees with the European ones is studied. The vibration signals produced predominantly by the African-paternity workers may influence the spread of African traits.

Wax combs mediate nestmate recognition by guard honeybees

Article Abstract:

Role of waxcombs in the identification of bees' nestmate at the entrance of colony is discussed. Experiments are conducted through the swapping of hives and acceptance of forager workers.
