Grassland species loss resulting from reduced niche dimension

Article Abstract:

The numerous studies and analyses conducted to analyze the ecosystems show that the niche dimensionality of a habitat results in the coexistence and diversity of the plants, the species of which keep decreasing with an increase in the added limiting soil resources. The study of the diversity changes in the Park Grass Experiment at Rothamsted provides a more realistic explanation for the effects of nutrient eutrophication on the diversity of all the ecosystems.

Is fertilization efficiency misleading?

Article Abstract:

The relationship between global crop production and fertilization is analyzed and it is argued, that fertilization beyond current levels is unlikely to increase crop yields as effectively as in the past, due to diminishing returns. However, this argument is termed as misleading as diminishing returns are not readily apparent on a global scale.

Loss of plant species after chronic low-level nitrogen deposition to prairie grasslands

Article Abstract:

Several experimental studies are conducted to determine the impact of the chronic low-level nitrogen deposition to prairie grasslands on the plant species in the vicinity. The results show that the nitrogen addition mostly leads to the loss of plant species at lower addition rates.
