Gregarious development in alysiine parasitoids evolved through a reduction in larval aggression
Article Abstract:
It has been possible to identify differences in oviposition and brood reduction behaviour between Aphaereta genevensis and Aphaereta pallipes developing in the same host, Drosophila virilis. A. genevensis laid only a small number of eggs per host, with only one, or occasionally two, offspring surviving to adult emergence. In A. pallipes, several eggs were laid per host, with more than one usually surviving. These findings indicate that the evolution of gregariousness in alysiines is directly connected with the invasion of nonsiblicidal larval behaviour into siblicidal populations.

Is marijuana appropriate for medicinal use?
Article Abstract:
Disagreement exists on whether marijuana is a proper medicinal substance. Supporters note that it functions as an anti-emetic, analgesic and treatment for glaucoma and spastic conditions. Opponents note that scientific proof of its safety and efficacy is lacking, although proponents cite its medical use over millenia. Critics also note that the California and Arizona medical marijuana initiatives have avoided the drug approval process of the federal Food and Drug Administration.
