Immigration policy forces researchers out of West Bank

Article Abstract:

An Israeli immigration policy is forcing foreign academics to abandon their jobs as their access to the West Bank and Gaza Strip is being denied or restricted by border controls. If this restriction continues a group called Israeli Committee for the Rights of Residency wants the Israel's academics to stand up against the restrictions, and the Palestinian universities want the foreign academics and scientific organizations to protest against the destabilization of the education and research infrastructure.

The trouble with replication

Article Abstract:

Replication in science is viewed as a way of being sure that something really exists, and the process by which tentative discoveries acquires textbook status. The fate of nineteen papers in 'Nature' journal's 6893rd issues are tracked in order to view replication and its absence in practice, and to ask whether journals and scientists were doing enough to monitor it.

Societies take united stand on journal access

Article Abstract:

More than 40 biomedical societies have come together to obtain immediate and unrestricted access to the scientific literature they publish. However, publishing experts in London believe that scientific societies might have to cut down on their non-publishing activities, if open access catches on.
