Inducing concentric worm holes

Article Abstract:

The anchor-cell signalling molecule has been found to induce vulval development in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans; this molecule belongs to the epidermal growth factor (EGF) type of growth factors. Russell J. Hill and Paul W. Sternberg also suggest that lin-3 gene mutations create the anchor-cell signals in animals with vulval precursor cell lineage defects. The anchor-cell signalling cells are linked to the gonadal cells that trigger vulval development.
