Integration of quanta in cerebellar granule cells during sensory processing

Article Abstract:

It is essential to determine the relationship between sensory-evoked synaptic input and the resulting pattern of output spikes, to understand the computations performed by the input layers of cortical structures. The input layer of the cerebellum balances exquisite sensitivity with a high signal-to-noise ratio.

Whisker movements evoked by stimulation of single pyramidal cells in rat motor cortex

Article Abstract:

Long sequences of small whisker movements could be evoked by the action potentials in single pyramidal cells of rat motor cortex. However, the efficiency of cortical action potentials in evoking whisker movements is not dependent on background cortical activity.

Behavioral report of single neuron stimulation in somatosensory cortex

Article Abstract:

The impact of the stimulation of single neurons on the behavioral responses in somatosensory cortex is examined. Findings show that single neuron activity could change the animal's detection behavior to a great extent.
