Kenneth Leroy Turk, 19080-1990: a brief biography
Article Abstract:
Kenneth L. Turk, an international figure in animal science, was born in Mt. Vernon, MO, on Jul 14, 1908. He earned his B.S. degree in agriculture at the University of Missouri in 1930. The following year he completed his studies for the M.S. degree and in 1934 his Ph.D. As former head of the department of animal husbandry at the Cornell University, Turk is credited for making the unit as one of the outstanding departments in the world. In 1979, he was given the American Society of Animal Science Honorary Fellow Award in recognition of his contributions to the Society and to the animal industry. Turk died on Dec 16, 1990.

Henry Perly Rusk, 1884-1954: a brief biography
Article Abstract:
Henry Perly Rusk left his mark both on the academic and practical sides of agriculture. He was a prominent figure at the University of Illinois where he supervised cattle feeding research and taught animal husbandry. He is considered a leader in efforts to raise the living standards of American farmers and was an active participant in government agricultural policy making. His presence was also sought at major state fairs and cattle shows where he gained nationwide popularity as a cattle judge.

Tom Sherman Hamilton, 1894-1972: A Brief Biography
Article Abstract:
A noted Professor of Animal Nutrition T.S. Hamilton worked at the University of Illinois. His research demonstrated that protein-deficient diets lead to more fat and less protein by body weight. He also co-authored Biochemistry of the Amino Acids.
