Materials with structural hierarchy
Article Abstract:
Many natural and artificial materials have a hierarchical structure which plays an important role in their strength, stiffness and density. Cellular materials such as foams and honeycombs and laminates of fibrous composite sheets such as plywood have a hierarchical structure and exhibit greater strength per density ratios than amorphous materials of similar composition. Unusual properties such as negative Poisson ratios may be achieved using hierarchically structured materials.

Ti3SiC2 has negligible thermopower
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the thermopower properties of Ti3SiC2. The electrical resistivity and absolute thermopower of single phase Ti3SiC2 at a temperature range of 300-850 Kelvin is discussed.
