NASA head bows out after a record run
Article Abstract:
US space agency NASA is to get a new administrator after the resignation of Dan Goldin in October 2001. Goldin served for nearly 10 years and was responsible for introducing budget cuts and downsizing from 25,000 to 18,500 in order to compensate for a lack of government funding.

Issues concerning the finance of the International Space Station are discussed. In particular the effects of cuts in funding that will reduce the numbers of crew from six down to two are examined.
