Neural correlates of perceptual motion coherence

Article Abstract:

Visual cortex neurons display alterations in direction tuning which indicate that perception of noncoherent motion can be improved. Experiments with rhesus monkeys were carried out involving the perception of single moving 'plaid patterns,' representing coherent motion, and two component gratings sliding past each other, representing noncoherent motion. The finding that perception of noncoherent motion can become more sensitive may overturn theories of cortical visual processing that are unable to explain the role of figural image segmentation.

The influence of visual motion on fast reaching movements to a stationary object

Article Abstract:

The influence of vision on fast reaching movements to a stationary object is mentioned and discussed. Experiments are performed to prove theories relating to the subject and the results are demonstrated.
