New physics at last?

Article Abstract:

Two experiments conducted at the HERA positron-proton collider in Hamburg, Germany, suggest the emergence of new fundamental physics. The experiments sought to capture and measure particles resulting from the collision between circulating positrons with 27.5 GeV of energy and protons with 820 GeV circulating in the opposite direction. The experiments found unexpected signals that cannot be explained by the standard model of particle analysis. The results indicate a need for a new level of understanding of particle physics.

A contractile nuclear actin network drives chromosome congression in oocytes

Article Abstract:

Chromosome congression during the first meiotic division in starfish oocytes is examined. It is shown that microtubules are not sufficient for capturing chromosomes and that the delivery of chromosomes to the microtubule spindle helps in preventing chromosome loss and aneuploidy of the egg due to the contraction of the contractile actin network.

Delivering spermatozoan RNA to the oocyte

Article Abstract:

The human male gametes pass over more to the oocyte than just the haploid male genome - paternal messenger RNAs are also delivered to the egg at fertilization. Study results show that the Spermatozoa deliver RNAs to the oocyte at fertilization.
