Older is better: Beaver ponds on boreal streams as breeding habitat for the wood frog

Article Abstract:

The dynamics of animal populations are influenced by the ecological process of succession through habitat disturbance and displacement of individuals. The manner in which changes in amphibian populations occur through succession of stream ponds mediated by beaver (Castor canadensis) damming and foraging is investigated through the examination of beaver ponds by the wood frog (Rana sylvatica).

Range and habitat selection of African Buffalo in South Africa

Article Abstract:

More than 10 years of data on buffalo herds in a Geographic Information System (GIS) of Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (KPNR) was used to examine ranging behavior and habitat selection at multiple temporal and geographic scales. It was suggested that buffalo preferentially select for areas near water, but range farther in the dry season for higher quality food.

Habitat use of western spotted skunks and stripped skunks in Texas

Article Abstract:

Spotted skunks in Texas, U.S.A., showed preference to areas with large mesquite trees as habitat unlike striped skunks which apparently did not have preference for any specific habitats for foraging. Both varieties did not favor agricultural habitat.
