Open for business: California's stem-cell institute is already transparent enough

Article Abstract:

California's electorate has spent $3 billion on an institute, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) dedicated to stem-cell research. The CIRM has provided many labs Scientific Excellence through Exploration and Development grants for innovative approaches to stem-cell work and it has also established a grant-review mechanism.

Towards a German elite

Article Abstract:

For the purpose of promoting university development, a new Government attempts to stem the exodus of outstanding researchers from Germany. There are certain constraints and its awareness has reached the highest levels of Government.
