Patent row splits fish identity researchers

Article Abstract:

Taxonomists and other researchers backed by United Kingdom's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAFF) have challenged the novelty of a patent of a method for identifying the genetic origin of canned tuna fish owned by a Canadian Company Bio-ID, and its European licensee, Atlangene. However, William Davidson, Vice-President of Bio-ID, feels that the unique combination of established techniques makes it novel.
