Phylogenetic distinctiveness of a threatened aquatic turtle (Sternotherus depressus)

Article Abstract:

Molecular genetics research has provided new strategies for musk turtle conservation policies. Differences in taxonomic status between the musk turtle and the flattened musk turtle, a morphologically atypical form, confirmed distinction between the two species. These findings support the need for individually tailored conservation programs to address their specific needs, rather than a more generalized approach.

Predicting the Impact of Sea-Level Rise on Caribbean Sea Turtle Nesting Habitat

Article Abstract:

An assessment of beach habitat is presented for nesting sea turtles on Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles. Calculations show that a projected 0.5-meter rise in sea level could eradicate up to 32% of current total beach area; the impact of this loss on sea turtle populations is discussed.

Patterns of Nest Predation on Artificial and Natural Nests in Forests

Article Abstract:

Research on artificial and natural shrub and ground nests in Ontario showed significantly different predation patterns, suggesting that artificial nest study results may not be valid. It is recommended to perform research using natural nests.
