Article Abstract:
The development of two successors to NASA's Cosmic Background Explorer satellite, one of which is due to be launched shortly, will make available higher-resolution images of the radiation that makes up the cosmic microwave background. These images will improve cosmologists' understanding of what happened after Big Bang.

Bangladeshi to sue over arsenic poisoning
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the allegations bought by Bangladeshi villagers against the British Geological Survey over mass arsenic poisoning from wells dug during the nineteen eighties are discussed. Particular attention is given to legal aspects of the geological safety.

Polio's last stand

An outbreak of poliomyelitis in the Caribbean was caused by a mutant form of the oral polio vaccine, and may mean that plans to withdraw OPV from use will have to be reworked, and another vaccine may have to be used to eradicate the OPV virus.
