Retinal angiogenesis in development and disease

Article Abstract:

Advances in retinal vascular research, which include determining mechanisms that induce and pattern the retinal vascular system, and dissecting disease processes that lead to its disintegration is presented. It is revealed that oxygen is a primary determinant of retinal angiogenesis to a large and growing field that explores metabolic, immune, glial, neuronal, gene expression, and prevascular and progenitor cell factors and gives hope for those who suffer from blinding angiogenic diseases.

Extremely slow drude relaxation of correlated electrons

Article Abstract:

The frequency dependent microwave conductivity of the heavyfermion metal UPd(sub 2)Al(sub 3) is measured, finding that it is accurately described by the prediction for a single relaxation rate. The observations are directly related to the high effective mass of the charge carriers in this material and reveal the dynamics of interacting electrons.
