Rewiring cellular morphology pathways with synthetic guanine nucleotide exchange factors

Article Abstract:

The recombination of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) domains with new regulatory modules have helped in generating synthetic GEFs that are activated by non-native inputs. The results have shown the high degree of evolutionary plasticity of modular signalling proteins and have indicated that synthetic biology approaches can be used to manipulate the complex spatio-temporal control of cell morphology.

Structural snapshots of the mechanism and inhibition of a guanine nucleotide exchange factor

Article Abstract:

The crystal structures of transient GDP-bound intermediates involved in small G-protein-GEFs (guanine nucleotide exchange factors) complexes are reported. Membrane recruitment of Arf and nucleotide dissociation from small G-protein-GEF complexes is separate reactions stimulated by Sec7 domain of GEFs.

A structural state of the mysin V motor without bound nucleotide

Article Abstract:

The 2.0angstrom structure of myosin V revealed a conformation of myosin without bound nucleotide. The role of myosin V in the movement of mechanical lever arm is analyzed.
