Rude paleoanthropology: Controversies over Homo floresiensis reflect a flourishing science
Article Abstract:
The classification of Homo floresiensis, a population of hominids that lived on the island of Flores in Indonesia, as a distinct species, is a subject of much controversy. The publication of a paper proposing that Homo floresiensis was only a malformed human pygmy and not an individual species is welcome, since science flourishes with debate and clarifications, and only paleoanthropology, the study of the corporeal remains of human evolution, which in this case, is a renewed excavation on Flores island to study remains of Homo floresiensis, can solve this debate.

Early stone technology on Flores and its implications for Homo floresiensis
Article Abstract:
The implications of the attributes and production modes of 507 stone artefacts excavated at Mata Menge on Homo Floresiensis are described. The Mata Menge evidence has negated the claims that stone artefacts associated with Homo Floresiensis are so complex that they must have been made by modern humans (Homo sapiens).
